Break free from fear and live the life that you deserve

Written by Zanny Byron-Davis

When you break free from fear, doors open in your life like never before. We each have desires and dreams tucked away in our hearts waiting to be let out. They’re deep down in there waiting for the day that we finally hear and realise them.

Even if we choose not to never acknowledge them, there they remain. For most of us, the thing holding us back is that we are afraid. Fear can cripple us to our cores so easily. It’s the number one thing that stop us from going after our dreams and desires. But to embrace life fully, we must have the courage to break free.

But the thing is, when we allow fear to take over our lives, our desire for change tends to lose its power. We end up falling short and not reaching our goals.

Just like love, fear is a strong force that either drives us forward or prevents us from taking action. In worst cases, fear grips us and causes us to grow unhappy with our lives. We end up failing to take the actions that are necessary to create change. It’s such a crippling force that can end up becoming greater than the desire for life itself.

Some say the roots of fear come from evolution; that we taught ourselves to fear to keep safe in the wild. But I like to look at it differently. Fear was created in us by God, to serve another purpose – to drive us even further towards life.

Because of fear, we’re better able to respect life and appreciate all of creation. Yet when fear is used wrong, it stops us from going after the perfect life designed for us. We are all made to have an incredible adventure on this planet.

So what if we all looked at fear from a different perspective and used it for the better? Let’s turn things on their head and start fearing the right things. The only thing to be afraid of is living a life less than the amazing one you’re destined for. Here’s how you can break free from fear and embrace life:

1. Know that you have it in you

It’s understandable that we let it in. We’re only humans, and it’s only natural for us to stick to the familiar. After all, the unknown is pretty scary. It doesn’t help that there are so many legitimate things to be afraid of… failure, judgement, set backs, disappointments. They make it easy for us to talk ourselves into remaining right where we are.

The first thing you can do to break free from fear is find your inner strength. Know that you have it in yourself to do whatever you want to do. It’s easier said than done, of course.  But take your time and build up your inner strength.

2. Slay your fears

Once you’ve built up your inner strength, you need to start identifying your fears. You see, the longer fears go undisturbed, the more they gain power. Yet, the minute you call them to the front, and face them, their grips on your life are freed.

Fear loves to thrive in the unknown. We come up with excuses to cover up fears, such as ‘I don’t know how’ or ‘I have no money’. But the real thing holding us back from making changes or going forwards in our lives is almost always fear.

When you come to the realisation of the particular fear that is holding you back, you gain the power to get rid of it. So do some soul searching and face them head-on. Realise that the only person stopping you from achieving your dreams is you. Deal with your surface excuses, get some support, and let go of fears.

3. Trust in a higher power

One of the most important things to help you break free from fear is to trust in a higher power. Focus on knowing that you’re taken care of. As a Christian, when I doubt myself (which is a lot), I remind myself that with God’s power, I am able. That thought allows my fears to be subsided.

This is powerful, because I am a person created in the image of God. The fact of a supernatural creator, who loves me and has many good promises for my life, is amazing to me. I believe, with all of my heart, that He wants only good for me. That thought is enough for me to let go and give it over to Him.

It’s called faith and total trust. When you experience it, it’s totally freeing and empowering. Can you truly envision and believe that a higher power has your back? If you learn to, you have nothing left to worry about.

4. Don’t be afraid to reach out

We all have our own issues. A lot of the times we’re are afraid to ask for help, which is a huge mistake I see a lot of people make. It’s another perfect example of fear rearing its ugly head.

We so often put things off, push them out of our minds and convince ourselves that they’re not that important. We might think others would laugh at us, or we simply don’t want people knowing our business. We’re ashamed of what we are going through. So we stay in our fear, stay small, stay depressed and stay frustrated.

Never ever be afraid to reach out and ask for help when you need it! Afterall, we are all human and have similar worries and issues. It would surprise you if you knew how many people in the world are going through the exact same thing as you.

5. Break free from fear

When you break free from the grips of fear, miracles start to take place. Happiness and amazing experiences are for us all. Make today the day that you decide that enough is enough. Stop being afraid and choose happiness. Let go of the old and create your most amazing life. Never let fear make choices for you again.

Be fearless. Once you’ve got that down, you’re ready to create the life that you deserve. And I am telling you, you deserve it my love.

Now is your time.

It’s your moment.

I believe in you.

Remember: fears are there for us to be stronger, not weaker.
