TAKARA CORE COLLECTION

At the moment, we’re busy finalizing our line of premium womenswear that combines the comfort of loungewear and the sleek style of urban daywear. Keep checking back on this page for updates on how it’s coming along!

Bringing a meaningful and fresh approach to fashion, our core values are the basis of our collections. The TAKARA line empowers both the wearer and the maker, while also creating opportunities. In addition, we help preserve the practice of culturally significant handicrafts in developing nations as well as locally.
These values are seen in our whole design process. That means everything from picking the most comfortable, clean and breathable fabrics to personally visiting and building relationships with each of our artisans and manufacturing partners.

 Capsule Wardrobe

Our collection promotes a change in the current fashion model. Instead of being trend-driven, our core collection consists of cornerstones of a wardrobe. Each of our items is a treasure made from high-quality and sustainable materials, by artisans who love their work.  Our sustainable and ethical values are seen throughout our designing process, sourcing, and production.

A capsule collection of 15 wardrobe cornerstones, including daywear and nightwear

Materials: silk, hemp, organic cotton, linen, and wool

Comfort without compromising style

Scandinavian minimalism spiced with nomadic influences

Classics with a twist, which won't go out of style and will last for years and years

Natural materials

We need to take better care of the planet. That’s why we use the cleanest, most environmentally friendly materials that we can find. The fibres used for our collection are carefully chosen for their beneficial properties (breathability, comfort, fit, durability, etc). In addition, all fabrics will come from sources proven to be safe, meaning that they won’t have any of the chemicals that most fabrics today have. This contributes to the wearer’s health and wellbeing, as studies are beginning to point out that the chemicals used to make our clothes could possibly be very harmful to us when we wear them. We also design with waste-reduction in mind and use recycled materials in innovative new ways when possible.

Clean, natural materials

Recycled, repurposed, reused

We source fabrics and raw materials from partners who have the same values

Our fabrics are not only good for the planet, but they're also good for your skin

Ethical production

We believe in fair trade and ethical production that support people and their skills. We operate on a social business model, and the economic empowerment of garment workers in developing nations is one of our main concerns. The preserving of culturally significant traditions and handicrafts both locally and globally is also important to us. We work hard to find skilled artisans and like-minded organizations to partner with.

Our approach is both local and global

We only work with like-minded partners and develop personal relationships with them

Economic empowerment, the preservation of handicrafts, and the livelihood of artisans are core to our collections

 Transparency

TAKARA has no secrets. For us, knowing our whole supply chain is extremely important. We believe all brands should be more transparent, honest and open.

We will provide transparent pricing information for all of our products. We believe that people should know what they're actually paying for.

We highlight our artisans and the people involved behind the seams

We provide lists of all the manufacturers, organisations and other partners we work with
